In 2015 LCU held an assembly with 450 leaders and presented a strategy to address the need for mental health resources. This strategy included addressing the lack of hospital beds for those in a mental crisis.
When LCU learned a proposal for a mental health hospital was turned down in Northbrook, LCU leaders quickly built the needed community support to assure state and city approval for a behavioral hospital in Lake County.
On June 4, 2020 Lake County United hosted a virtual tour of the new Lake Behavioral Hospital in Waukegan. A video of that tour is available for your viewing. Watch and be proud of this accomplishment.
