Reporting on Listening Sessions

Last fall 85 people from 20 member institutions gathered and made commitments to hold listening sessions in their institution to relate, listen and learn. On February 13 we will gather to share what was heard and determine next steps resulting from. This is also an opportunity to invite those from your institutions with an interest to act.

For lack of better alternatives, write the authors, police often detain and jail people suffering a mental health crisis. As an alternative to beds in jails, as seen in this photograph, Illinois should create crisis stabilization centers, which are like emergency rooms for the mentally ill.
